  • UCV received ISO 45001 certification, positioning itself among the institutions that prioritize the safety and health of its employees. This reinforces its commitment to global standards for the prevention of occupational risks.
  • In addition, the company reaffirmed its objective of protecting the mental health of its employees, guaranteeing a healthy and comprehensive work environment for its entire community.

On September 27, the César Vallejo University (UCV) obtained the ISO 45001 International Certification , which highlights its commitment to safety and health at work, marking a new milestone in its trajectory. This recognition places the UCV among the educational institutions that implement the highest standards of occupational risk prevention, guaranteeing a safe environment for its entire community. In addition, it promotes the continuous improvement of working conditions through the identification, evaluation and control of risks. Organizations that implement ISO 45001 commit to comply with legal regulations and promote safety in all their operations.

ISO 45001 certification, awarded by SGS-UKAS, is an international benchmark that establishes the requirements for occupational health and safety management. Its implementation at UCV not only ensures the reduction of risks and workplace accidents, but also the promotion of mental health among its employees.

Importance of ISO 45001

Engineer César Acuña Peralta, founder of the UCV, highlighted the importance of this achievement, given that the UCV's Occupational Health and Safety policy seeks to prevent accidents and promote healthy working conditions, making safety a fundamental pillar in its daily activities.

“Graduating from a university with ISO certification and international accreditations means graduating from the best university . With this certification, we guarantee a safe environment for our students and employees”, he added.

For her part, Dr. Jeannette Tantaleán Rodríguez, rector of the UCV, stressed the importance of this certification, not only in terms of physical safety, but also in terms of mental health care.

“We are committed to risk prevention and the comprehensive health of our university community. This certification is proof that the UCV continues to advance to offer an environment conducive to the development of all”, he added.

Likewise, Yeney Borda Ovalle, representative of the certifying entity SGS, highlighted that this type of certification is the result of months of hard work and requires the commitment of the entire organization, from senior management to operational staff.

With the ISO 45001 certification, the UCV joins a select group of universities and companies worldwide that have adopted this standard. The UCV has also previously been recognized with the ISO 9001:2015 certification, for the quality of its educational processes, and ISO 21001:2018, which covers learning management and university social responsibility.

What is ISO 45001 Certification?

It is an international standard that establishes the requirements for an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System. Its main objective is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, prevent accidents, reduce risks and protect employees from work-related injuries and illnesses.

The main benefits of ISO 45001 are the reduction of accidents and occupational diseases, greater protection and well-being of workers, compliance with safety laws and regulations, improvement of the reputation and trust of the organization and the promotion of a preventive culture in the work environment.

ISO 45001 not only sets physical safety standards, but also incorporates mental health as a key aspect of workplace wellbeing.
