The latest edition of the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2022 positions César Vallejo University among the best universities in Peru; this recognition reflects the institution's commitment to research and the training of highly skilled professionals. The SCImago World ranking is presented annually and considers institutions capable of publishing more than 100 scientific articles annually in journals indexed in the Scopus database. UCV has been increasing its annual publications over the past two years; according to Scopus records, UCV has published 563 scientific articles.
The participating universities are evaluated based on their production over five years up to 2020, using 17 indicators grouped into three categories: research (50%), which is measured by the quantity and quality of scientific publications; innovation (30%), evaluated by patents and scientific journals; and, finally, social impact (20%), measured by access to and interest in the institution's general content.
The visibility of scientific articles is achieved by publishing on specialized platforms such as Scopus, WOS (Web of Science), and SciELO, among others.
“These results represent the implementation of policies and our commitment to society through our research and innovations. Furthermore, they reflect the academic excellence of our faculty and student researchers. Soon, we will be the leading university in the country,” stated Dr. Jorge Salas Ruiz, Vice-Rector of Research at UCV.
It is worth mentioning that, nationally, out of the 94 private universities licensed by Sunedu, UCV ranks 7th in the SCImago ranking and 10th when including public universities. In this way, this institution reaffirms its commitment to research in the new professionals’ training.
César Vallejo University began its research with 32 Renacyt researchers and currently has 106 registered. To support it, the Research Institute was established on the Trujillo Campus, and the short-term goal is to have a Research Center on each campus. The objective is to achieve an annual volume of 300 to 500 research articles with international visibility.
